Dear Mary,
Thank you so much for your letter. Sorry, it took me so long to answer you, but I have been very busy lately studying for External Evaluation. But it was really interesting to read about your great accomplishments in Chemistry.
As you know I am not into science, I am fond of the humanities. Back at school, I liked History, and I was particularly interested in ancient history. I enjoyed studying foreign languages most of all, therefore I was keen on English. My English and History teachers were great. They made their lessons not only highly informative, useful and interesting, but also full of fun and that’s why captivating. They used a variety of games, quizzes and modern teaching techniques. That way they managed to hold our attention at lessons and inspired us to do our best in the courses. We also discussed various topics and prepared different projects. In addition to that, we attended Speaking Club where we had a great opportunity to communicate with native speakers.
To tell you the truth, I am certain that knowledge of these subjects will help me immensely in my future profession. My dream is to make a tour guide and show people around my country and its capital. I want to acquaint them with the interesting and complicated past and present of Ukraine, with its historical destiny which is, unfortunately, tragic at times. That’s why History and English are of such great interest to me.
I am sure that if you want to succeed in your future career, you must try your hardest to study well. But it’s difficult if you don’t know how to organise your timetable. I’d like to share some tips with you. Firstly, you should enjoy what you do, of course. Secondly, do your homework regularly; don’t leave anything till the last moment. Don’t be afraid to ask for help your teachers or friends if you don’t understand something. And, certainly, leave some time to have a rest, and enjoy your hobbies. You know, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. You should no doubt eat wholesome food and do some exercise because you have to think about your health, too.
